Ideally, a powerpoint design should be simple and clean. Each slide should contain as little text as possible, with the information well illustrated by graphics, photographs, diagrams. The latter is particularly important in sustaining the viewer's interest, and should be big enough, interesting, amusing, or perhaps provocative; in general aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Where animation is used, it should occur in an instant (not drag out, wasting time), and there should be no sound effects, which are absolutely irritating.

Only jpeg extracts from the powerpoints below are available for viewing, and not the full powerpoint in all its slides and animation glory. To view more extracts from each powerpoint, click on the title or pictures.

2005 - project work powerpoint
gently down the stream(ing)

Each numeral you see on the cover page was painstakingly typed out, rotated and shifted into position one by one to create the template you see before you. But this first template I created had too little empty space, and thus wouldn't do for pages with content, so I created a second template with the numerals on the left border of the slide.

As this powerpoint was meant for an exam, I spent a great deal of time on it, designing and arranging the content to perfection. I drew some kiddy children's face graphics with the mouse to illustrate students belonging to different streams and levels, and also came up with some amusing ideas such as messenger icon graphics.

To highlight certain important points or facts, I sometimes gave them a bigger font size and different font colour. I like boxing up my text content, perhaps because it focuses one's attention on the words within the box, and seems easier on the eye this way.

I love this powerpoint very, very much :) I think it is one of my best works, to date.
